Your hosts at La Tulipe are Alie and Hans Huizer.
They have been visiting this area since the 1994.
Together with their friends they built their own house in Le Sauze du Lac. After it was sold, they had a new house constructed in Savines le Lac.
The house is big enough to accommodate all the children and grandchildren, but since they are not always around, the idea was born to let the available space. Looking back on this experience, all they can say is that it has been a great choice.
Receiving and entertaining guests of different nationalities is a wonderful and rewarding job to them.
Their guestbook is filled with positive stories about their hospitality and the surprising breakfast they serve their B&B guests. A holiday in the most beautiful part of France, the Hautes Alpes, both in the
summer and in the winter.
The mountains and the running water offer a variety of summer sports. The ski resorts in the surrounding area provide for many kinds of winter sports.
French people from big cities like Paris, Lyon, Grenoble, etc. have chosen the south side of the French Alps as their favourite holiday destination.
There are many reasons why they have chosen this part of France, but probably the climate is the main reason: statistically we have at least 300 days of sunshine each year!
We have real summers: warm but not humid! We have real winters: snow and frost, but no humid cold.
Having lunch outside in the sun is no exceptionin the winter.
You will find our newly built house in the village of Savines le Lac, within walking distance of shops and restaurants, but also close to the guarded beach and a smell port of Europe's largest reservoir, Lac Serre Ponçon.
From the north side of the apartment you have a beautiful, unobstructed view of the lake and you will see the mountains of the National Park des Ecrins.
From the south side of the apartment you will see the top of the 2400 meters high Pic de Morgon.
For all your daily groceries you can just walk over to the local supermarket and bakeries and on Tuesday and Friday there is a lively market.
The Mediterranean coast with cities like Nice and Marseilles is within a 2 ½ hours drive.
The historic town of Embrun is at a distance of 10 km. and Gap, the capital of the Hautes Alpes, is 25 km away.
Besides a beautiful nature with breathtaking views and beautiful villages you will find in the French Alps a varied network of roads where you can make stunning and challenging trips by car, by motorbike, or even by bike. Driving on these mountain roads is a real adventure, at least for those who like the curves, the adventurous little roads that sometimes seem too narrow, the short hairpin bends, the steep cliffs and the (sometimes) long distances.
